K9s For Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to our warriors suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disability, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post 9/11. Our goal is to empower them to return to civilian life with dignity and independence. K9s For Warriors is a tax-exempt 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization.
- We offer a unique in-house program where warriors spend three weeks training with their new service dogs, being re-introduced into civilian society.
- Every month, warriors from around the nation travel to Ponte Vedra, Florida to begin a 21 day training academy with their new service dog.
- Our training facility, Camp K9, can house up to 16 warriors each month at full capacity.
- They are provided housing, home-cooked meals, a trained service dog (a medical prescription on four legs), veterinary care, equipment such as a service dog vest and leash, educational material, and 120 hours of training with their service dog. All of this is provided at no charge to our troops and veterans.
There are many reasons the K9s For Warriors program is successful: the corporate partners and donors, the dedicated staff and volunteers, the proven medical recovery a service dog provides and peer to peer support they receive before, during and after graduation. Put together, each component is an important part of the solution to help the warriors travel the road to recovery, the road all the way back home to their families.
The review process, once we have received a completed application generally is least 4-6 weeks.
Our goal is that you get the best service dog possible.
