Video Coordinator

K9s For Warriors is the nation’s largest provider of service dogs to military veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Military Sexual Trauma as a result of military service post-9/11. Our program is unique, comprehensive, and proven. We provide each warrior with a service canine, equipment, training, certification, seminars, legal instruction, vet care, housing, home cooked meals, unconditional love and listening, and a life-time of wrap-around services. In essence, we don’t just give each of our warriors a service dog, we give them the K9s Family. In order to continue the great work, we are doing, we are in need of a Video Coordinator to join our amazing team!

The Video Coordinator will be responsible for creating a variety of professional videos for internal and external use. As a member of the Education department, this position works to achieve the department’s objectives through the production of a high level of creative and quality work. This position also works with members of the Education team to develop processes for organizing video content. Additionally, the Video Coordinator handles recording and/or streaming of live video when necessary. Occasional, local travel may be required, either by K9s For Warriors’ transportation, or personally owned vehicle.


  • Collaborate with the Education team to establish the desired message, feel and look for the videos to be created
  • Produce content on subjects or issues which fall within the scope of the mission and purpose of this organization
  • Work closely with Photographer and Digital Communications Manager to edit video assets
  • Gather and transfer all forms of media into editing software
  • Operate computer editing systems and equipment used for video media and effects
  • Establish a clear understanding of the story line and purpose of the video's creation
  • Create an initial proposed storyboard draft of the video to present to supervisor for approval before beginning to digitally alter video
  • Improve video and sound quality using various video software
  • Edit video to include pre-selected music, interviews, sound clips and other important aspects of the project
  • Ensure the correct formatting and presentation for finalized videos
  • Collaborate with partners and sponsors in creating and sharing relevant video assets
  • Organize all videos into appropriate folders based on video purpose


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-3 years’ experience in filmmaking and videography
  • 2-3 years’ experience editing video projects using video and audio software
  • Excellent communication skills

Grant Writing Associate

The Grant Writing Associate will coordinate and oversee the grant application and management process including: identification of potential new funding sources, development of funding resources for existing and proposed programs and/or services, writing grants, developing budgets, and processing, monitoring and coordinating required report evaluations on existing grants. This position provides support to the development office in all areas relating to the research, preparation, and submission of grant proposals to local, state, and federal entities as well as private foundations and corporate organizations.

Essential Functions

  • Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders.
  • Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.
  • Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers.
  • Ensuring prompt, personal acknowledgement of foundation gifts.
  • Maintaining a calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports.
  • Conducting prospect research and developing a pipeline of new foundation donors.
  • Prioritizing projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals.


Other Duties

  • Providing writing support for other departments as needed.
  • Conducting facility tours, and presentations on and off campus to further educate the public and work toward building relationships and securing funding.
  • All other tasks assigned.


Position Qualification and Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, English or other related field, plus a minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience writing private foundation, federal and state grants in areas of human/social services and/or mental health.
  • Must be able to demonstrate successful track record of grant research, preparation and submission to diverse funding sources (local, state, federal, private, and corporate).
  • Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of the grant process.
  • Familiarity with local funding sources is a plus.
  • Strong computer/technical skills with demonstrated proficiency in data base management, experience Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and public relations skills.

Donor Relationship Associate

Working under the direction of the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) and closely with the Donor Relationship Manager (DRM), the Donor Relationship Associate (DRA) plays a critical role in the success of K9s For Warriors’ fund development efforts, specifically through ongoing and proactive relationship management, strategic communications planning, gifts cultivation and solicitation activity with an assigned caseload of qualified major donors. In this role, the DRA will assist in the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors, acting as a main contact between K9s For Warriors and donors in their assigned caseload, with an emphasis on securing gifts of $5,000 and higher, and increasing overall major gifts to K9s For Warriors, while retaining and strengthening existing giving. An ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate the K9s For Warriors’ mission is key.

The DRA must be a team player who also works well independently, has strong leadership abilities, an entrepreneurial spirit, and unparalleled attention to detail, possesses initiative, and excels in being creative, dependable, flexible, and resourceful. The DRA will work in conjunction with the CAO, DRM, and consultants to contribute to the design, development and implementation of K9s For Warriors’ annual major gift plan (individual contributions of $5,000+). The DRA will be expected to energize team members, persuade prospects, and meet annual fundraising objectives. The DRA’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting donors in accomplishing their philanthropic goals through a relationship with K9s For  Warriors
• Establishing, managing and fulfilling a caseload communications plan, including individual fundraising goals and personalized strategies, to effectively steward, educate, cultivate and solicit gifts from major donors each fiscal year, with an emphasis on gifts of $5,000 and higher
• Managing a caseload of up to 150 assigned and qualified major donors and maintaining and seeking to engage with a small additional prospective donor “watch list” as assigned, following the agreed upon communications plan that is specific to each donor and prospect
• Leading in one-to-one solicitation, gift acknowledgement and stewardship communication
• Traveling as necessary to establish and maintain excellent donor relations
• Providing written proposals to major gift prospects as needed, and including K9s For Warriors’ leadership as appropriate
• Working in collaboration with program, finance, development, education/ marketing and admin support staff to develop a portfolio of giving opportunities (cases for support) that documents funding needs in terms of real program costs, how dollars impact our warriors and rescue dogs, outcomes being achieved, shortfalls and exciting mission advancement opportunities, and presenting these opportunities to donors to effectively match donor interests with K9s For Warriors’ advancement needs
• Managing all office systems related to DRA duties, including maintaining updated donor files, tracking spreadsheets, correspondence and gift acknowledgments, etc., pursuant to department policies and procedures
• Documenting all donor interactions through contact reports and according to established business practices, including K9s For Warriors’ donor database and wealth screening tools
• Ensuring excellent customer service is provided to donors through accessibility to staff and leadership (as granted), timely responsiveness, quality in all interactions and personalized communications
• Making direct, face-to-face solicitations
• Other duties and tasks as assigned

• 1-2-years demonstrated experience in non-profit fundraising
• Ability to secure major gifts of $5,000+
• Successful track-record of personally identifying, cultivating, and soliciting new donors, including individuals, corporations, and via community events
• Record of measurable results in organizing and implementing development events and related activities
• Comfortable using a donor database, prospect research and other wealth screening tools to aid in the moves management process; experience with Blackbaud products preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management or a related field
• A valid driver’s license required

Chief Advancement Officer

Serving as the chief fundraising strategist for K9s For Warriors, and as a member of the senior leadership team, the Chief Advancement Officer will direct all aspects of institutional fundraising initiatives and spearhead all strategies designed to implement a successful and sustainable philanthropic program.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
The Functions and Responsibilities of the Chief Advancement Officer include all or some of the following:

  • Oversees and sets the direction and strategy of fund development for the organization, including digital and direct response campaigns, capital campaigns, major gift programs, annual giving, fundraising events, third-party fundraising activities, corporate and foundation giving, and planned giving
  • Sets and leads the successful achievement of fundraising goals for annual operations assigned to each member of the department and the organization as a whole
  • Oversees strategy and execution for donor engagement, identification, cultivation, solicitation, securing and stewarding major and principal individual, foundation and corporate donors on an ongoing basis
  • Develops mission advancement strategies and oversees dynamic volunteer management and community engagement/outreach programs
  • Establishes performance measures, monitors results and evaluates the effectiveness of the advancement team and strategy
  • Ensures a culture where effective teamwork, collaboration and innovation are expected, recognized and rewarded; leads by example with regard to appropriate risk-taking, cross organizational cooperation and clear standards of conduct
  • Collaborates with marketing and education teams, led by the CMO, to plan and oversee development and donor related publications, messaging and strategy
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, maintains accountability standards to donors and ensures compliance with code of ethical principles of professional conduct for fundraising executives
  • Oversees the preparation and management of the annual department budget
  • Advises the CEO, President and Board of Directors on matters related to fundraising and philanthropy; maintains effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff members, volunteers, individual donors, foundations, corporations and program partners


  • Minimum of 7 years professional development experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience managing projects and teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, nonprofit management, or equivalent required. Advanced degree(s) in business, public administration, accounting or finance strongly preferred, CFRE preferred
  • A demonstrated track record of working with board members, high net worth individuals, private foundations and corporations
  • Understanding of and experience with a variety of philanthropic channels among them: annual fund and major gift programs, planned giving, and foundation and corporate partnerships
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge, Microsoft Office Suite and database best practices and management theory


  • Ten years or more experience in fundraising.

K9 Trainer

Under the direction of the Manager of K9 Training, and general supervision of the assigned Lead K9 Trainer, the K9 Trainer will be responsible for training dogs through several different phases which will include, obedience and public access to more advanced tasks based on our protocols and standard operating procedures.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Review training logs and recording the times in a spreadsheet
  • Coach other trainers through issues with their dogs
  • Have open communication with all trainers and making sure that the Lead K9 Trainer is updated on appropriate things associated with the trainers and dogs
  • Track issues with in-training dogs
  • Maintain each canine’s medical, training, and evaluation records as per our policies and procedures
  • Assist in the care and health of our dogs which consists of feeding, breaking, and or providing medications when needed
  • Liaise with the Lead K9 Trainer on the progression of each dogs training ability
  • Be available for phone consultations for graduated warriors that are having potential issues with their service dog
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision and handle oneself in a professional matter at all times
  • Transportation of dogs may be required

Other Duties

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor or management


  • H.S. diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of dog training experience
  • Must have basic computer literacy skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s license required

K9 Caretaker

The K9 Caretaker supports the proper operation of the kennels, which includes the cleaning and maintenance of the kennel facilities, feeding and caring of the dogs and ensuring the overall safety of the kennel facilities and dogs.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Cleaning the individual dog kennels and surrounding kennel facilities, to include pressure washing, scrubbing and disinfecting
  • Cleaning dog bowls, toys and laundering towels
  • Bathing dogs
  • Providing food and fresh water for the dogs
  • Walking the dogs between kennels and other areas of the facilities, while strictly adhering to all policies and procedures for handling the dogs
  • Lifting and stocking dog food and kennel supplies
  • Assisting the veterinary technician with securing the dogs during veterinary treatment
  • Removing and disposing of waste from dog waste stations
  • Monitoring medical and behavioral condition of dogs, notating the kennel cards and notifying appropriate staff of concerns
  • Follow the direction of the team lead

Other Duties

  • Performing any other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
  • Maintain good communication with kennel staff and management 
  • Maintain good working relationships with all kennel and organization employees


  • Minimum eighteen (18) years of age
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and weekends

Physical Demands

  • Ability to exert a moderate to extensive amount of physical effort, including stooping, crouching, walking stairs, climbing and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds individually
