K9 Procurement and Adoption Specialist

Under the general direction and supervision of the K9 Procurement and Adoption Manager, The K9 Procurement and Adoption Specialist is responsible for the procurement of dogs in our program and maintenance of all associated records and documentation. The K9 Procurement and Adoption Specialist is responsible for the facilitation, coordination, and execution of the adoption process for the career changed dogs in our program.
**Shifts may include some weekend and evening work.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Search rescue websites for potential dogs who meet our criteria and contact rescues to verify availability of dogs
  • Travel to animal shelters and humane societies for temperament testing and procurement of dogs
  • Maintain relationships with various breeders, shelters, organizations so that quality dogs can be procured for our program
  • Walk through a shelter and look at all types of dogs objectively and follow the company’s guidelines
  • Clerical duties: respond to emails, phone calls, and review rescue websites for potential dogs who meet our criteria
  • Read and review medical records with some understanding of general medical issues
  • Provide transportation for dogs with regards to veterinary care, when dogs need to be surrendered back to shelters of origin, and when transporting dogs to the Ponte Vedra campus
  • Email adoptable dogs to K9s For Warriors staff and post on social media
  • Schedule and facilitate appointments for potential adopters to meet dogs
  • Assess adopters home life to make sure it is a good fit for career changed dogs
  • Liaise with K9 training team to meet and become familiar with adoptable dogs
  • Research rescue organization options for career changed dogs
  • Assist in arranging transportation for dogs with external transportation companies
  • Work independently with little or no supervision and in a professional manner at all times

Other Duties

Qualifications

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent
  • Previous work in a kennel setting, shelter or rescue group is preferred
  • Previous dog training experience is preferred
  • Ability to understand dog body language is required
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Good communication skills
  • Must have basic computer literacy skills and be able to handle multiple unrelated tasks simultaneously while working in a busy environment

Development Director

Serving as the fundraising strategist for K9s For Warriors, and as a member of the senior leadership team, the Advancement Director will direct all aspects of institutional fundraising initiatives and spearhead all strategies designed to implement a successful and sustainable philanthropic program.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and sets the direction and strategy of fund development for the organization, including digital and direct response campaigns, capital campaigns, major gift programs, annual giving, fundraising events, third-party fundraising activities, corporate and foundation giving, and planned giving
  • Sets and leads the successful achievement of fundraising goals for annual operations assigned to each member of the department and the organization as a whole
  • Oversees strategy and execution for donor engagement, identification, cultivation, solicitation, securing and stewarding major and principal individual, foundation and corporate donors on an ongoing basis
  • Develops mission advancement strategies and oversees dynamic volunteer management and community engagement/outreach programs
  • Establishes performance measures, monitors results, and evaluates the effectiveness of the advancement team and strategy

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional development experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience managing projects and teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, nonprofit management, or equivalent required. Advanced degree(s) in business, public administration, accounting or finance strongly preferred, CFRE preferred
  • A demonstrated track record of working with board members, high net worth individuals, private foundations and corporations
  • Understanding of and experience with a variety of philanthropic channels among them: annual fund and major gift programs, planned giving, and foundation and corporate partnerships
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge, Microsoft Office Suite and database best practices and management theory

Human Resources Administrative Assistant

The Human Resources (“HR”) Administrative Specialist is responsible for meeting company hiring goals by helping to fill open positions with qualified individuals and also serves as the front desk administrator by greeting, welcoming, and appropriately directing visitors. This position is the first point of contact visitors and applicants have with K9s For Warriors. To succeed in this position, the HR Administrative Specialist should possess a strong work ethic, integrity, and the ability to work in a goal-oriented team environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Human Resources Duties:

  • Work closely with managers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s hiring needs for each position and meet competitive hiring goals and expectations
  • Manage the full recruiting lifecycle across a variety of open roles helping management find, hire, and retain quality talent
  • Work with HR Manager and hiring managers to ensure job descriptions accurately reflect the responsibilities of each position
  • Develop and post job openings on internal and external job boards

Chief Marketing Officer

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Chief Marketing Officer position is an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate to employ their marketing and communication skills in leadership, management, visionary thinking, and national media relations expertise for a strong organization composed of a committed, hardworking, and passionate team.

The next CMO will have an opportunity to work collaboratively with the education and advancement departments to educate key stakeholders, including the general public, media, sponsors, potential sponsors and various community/veteran organizations on K9s For Warriors’ mission to help veterans suffering from PTSD. POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Chief Marketing Officer will manage a team of 2 direct reports and 2 indirect reports, and a marketing budget that fits within the overall operating budget of $13 million. The next Chief Marketing Officer will think strategically about how to help support both the education and advancement departments and contribute to the raising of resources in support of the mission. The CMO will   be responsible for leading the development of graphically appealing internal and external publications, newsletters, email newsletters, announcements, planned publications, on-line, internet, video, special projects and assignments. They will be responsible for establishing a best in class website and social media presence which supports organization awareness and growth goals as well as creating rich and creative content that is optimized for search engines.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

K9s For Warriors seeks a proven marketing executive with a passion for the mission of K9s For Warriors. The ideal candidate should be a seasoned, well-rounded communications professional that understands emerging marketing trends and market expansion, backed with a successful track record in achieving mission driven goals.  He or she will be a visionary, able to inspire and harness the talents and hard work of their team and the people around them to achieve that vision but who will also roll up their sleeves and assist their small team when needed. It is also preferred that this candidate has experience either working for, or sitting on the board of, a non-profit organization, having successfully participated in the execution of integrated fundraising and marketing campaigns.

The next K9s For Warriors CMO must be a person of the highest integrity and will have demonstrated strengths in valuing people, in building unified, collaborative teams, and in cultivating positive, inspirational team environments.

She or he must have a Bachelors’ Degree with a specialization in Communications or Marketing preferred. The successful candidate will have at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role, following at minimum, a decade long career and advanced experience working with a variety of traditional and modern marketing and communications functions including branding and messaging to different target audiences.

K9 Trainer: Alachua, FL

Under the direction of the Manager of K9 Training, the K9 Trainer is responsible for training canines through several different phases which include obedience and public access, to more advanced tasks based on our protocols, training standards, and standard operating procedures.

  • Train assigned canines to perform individual tasks qualifying them to become a Service Dog
  • Maintain each canine’s medical, training, and evaluation records as per our policies and procedures
  • Track issues with in-training canines
  • Review training logs and recording the times in a spreadsheet
  • Have open communication with all trainers and making sure that the Lead K9 Trainer is updated on relevant matters associated with the trainers and canines
  • Assist in the care and health of our canines which consists of feeding, breaking, and or providing medications when needed

K9 Caretaker

The K9 Caretaker supports the proper operation of the kennels, which includes the cleaning and maintenance of the kennel facilities, feeding and caring of the dogs and ensuring the overall safety of the kennel facilities and dogs.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Cleaning the individual dog kennels and surrounding kennel facilities, to include pressure washing, scrubbing and disinfecting
  • Cleaning dog bowls, toys and laundering towels
  • Bathing dogs
  • Providing food and fresh water for the dogs
  • Walking the dogs between kennels and other areas of the facilities, while strictly adhering to all policies and procedures for handling the dogs
