As the Campus Director of K9s For Warriors’ new training facility in Alachua, FL, Randy and his service dog, Captain, provide leadership and direction to the staff and warriors there. Randy is the principal liaison for incoming warriors, and is responsible for coordinating training and communication with the warriors, meeting fundraising goals, and managing the daily operations of the second campus, called the Gold Family Campus. Prior to K9s For Warriors, Randy was the President of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Rebel Veterans Organization. Before transferring to UNLV, he served as the President of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society Beta Iota Lambda chapter at San Diego Miramar College.

Randy was medically retired in 2013 at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Randy and his service dog, Captain, have traveled the country as advocates for PTSD service dogs since they were paired by K9s For Warriors in August 2014. They were featured in the viral YouTube video, “Dear Captain,” which has nearly 300,000 views. As President of the UNLV Rebel Vets, and with Captain by his side, Randy was instrumental in helping to pass three laws in the state of Nevada that added a student and woman veteran to the Governor’s Veteran Advisory Council, removed the three-year time limit for in-state tuition for recipients of the Fry Scholarship, and required the Nevada System of Higher Education to work with the American Council on Education to award appropriate college credit for military training, education, and experience. They are lifelong learners and plan on completing their Masters in Nonprofit Management at the University of Central Florida.
