Meagan BurtonChief Advancement Officer
As Chief Advancement Officer of K9s For Warriors, Meagan Burton spearheads the organization’s fundraising efforts, focusing on creative strategies in resource development to ensure the long-term sustainability of programs and services. Under her leadership, the Advancement team executes thoughtful initiatives in major and planned giving, special events, community relations, grants, and annual appeals. Since assuming her role with the organization in May of 2018, Meagan has helped to increased contributions to K9s by over 22% and launched new donor acquisition campaigns that have resulted in over 15,000 new constituents to the organization.
Meagan brings with her over a decade of experience in development, marketing, and nonprofit management. In her previous role as Senior Regional Development Manager for Operation Homefront, Meagan developed and implemented a fundraising strategy that increased the organization’s southeastern and west coast regional projected revenue by 335% over a three-year period. An accomplished vocalist in her youth, Meagan began her career in arts & music industry management, acting in various marketing roles for the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and the Grand Rapids Symphony.
An active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Meagan is currently a board member of the AFP’s First Coast Chapter, serving as Secretary and Treasurer. Since joining AFP in 2013, Meagan has acted in numerous volunteer roles and participated in multiple committees ranging from mentoring to chairing Dallas, Texas’ 2017 National Philanthropy Day.
Meagan holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of North Texas at Dallas, a Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Management from Ferris State University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the Baker College Center for Graduate Studies. She resides in Jacksonville, Florida with her husband Shane and two rescue dogs, Henry and Freya.
